This is based on the plastic model of the Leif Ericson released by AMT back in 1968. This was the model used by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven as the inspiration for the INSS MacArthur in their classic novel The Mote In God's Eye. Jeffries designed starship. Found the mesh on the Wenchell Chung website...pretty cool stuff, check it out...[link]

You are aware, are you not, that the non-glowing version has been recently re-released for a reasonable price?

The new version uses LED lights in the engines instead of the primitive "grain-o-wheat" bulbs used in the original.
