cool episode!
I can't remember (and I believe it was the case) That Commodore Decker was Capt/Commander Decker's father from TMP. Kirk was the one that hand pick him for the command chair before her took over.

Right again.  In the novel (written by Gene Roddenberry) he explains that among other things.  The woman that died in the transporter accident with Commander Sonak was in a "marriage contract" with Kirk.

No shit, eh! Think I had that (the novel) but never sat down to read it. It got stolen among other things years ago. Now with this info, makes me what to hunt it down and read.
Man, I miss having them, the Trek Novels. I was quite picky when I selected them. I would only get the ones from the original writers of the series and, of course, the master himself.
I had roughly about 60 books in my collection, far short of what was published.
Thanks for the info bud.
Oh, one of those day I need to pick at your brain at doing lighting for "space scenes". Can't quite get it to look right.

I would be glad to help.  Youtube has lots of tutorials on 3d rendering.  Even if the programs used aren't exactly the ones you use, the concepts are basically the same.  A LOT of lighting hinges on KEY, SPECULAR (OR HIGHLIGHTS) AND FILL.  In lightwave usually black space scenes use a combination of these.  In atmosphere, and in space nebula scenes radiocity helps do a lot of the fill and bounce.  In Daz it is called Uberlights etc.

Hey, thanks.....
Well, I use UE2 light quite a bit, well, always. Just haven't had good luck setting them up to look right for nite time or space. Even with some presets. Day or interior scenes, no problem.
I'll take a look see on you tube.
