Babylon 6: A New Generation by archangel72367 Babylon 6: A New Generation by archangel72367
This is a recreation of an Image I did before I had Lightwave.
Updated it with better models and a fair amount of learning accumulated since then. Don't take this Image too seriously... I KNOW IT IS MOSTLY UN-CANON! SO WHAT.

Personally i'm a massive B5 fan and I think you do the show justice with this scene (even if Babylon 5 was meant to be the last). Could be some bizzare alternate universe or something.

Neat. Looks very B-5 in style.... Which is good and bad. It's kind of a dated CG appearance, these days.... but hey, good memories. Good times :)

Well quite literally Babylon 5 created Lightwave. I recently noticed it in the credits...NewTek's Video Toaster! Became what is now Lightwave! Gotta love it!

I guess it shows its age with the texture work and crisp geometry. It's nice... but it just feels a bit dated to my eye now.

Now you make me feel like a slacker for opting to sleep instead....

Actually I was working on yet another texture project, last night, 'til I dropped.

Babylon 5 happens to be one of the few Sci-Fi series that I really like.

Proper story and structure - even if they had to compress it to satisfy the execs, then get a fifth season rushed in that was a lot weaker, except for the final episode.

Real character growth and development. And perhaps the only series that came in consistantly under-budget last I heard.

Shows what can be achieved, even on shoestring funding.

Love this pic, a major upgrade on the earlier version, displaying what could have been, if B5 had been given a budget at all, seems almost like a metaphor if you ask me.

pt 2. And a LOT of the special effects used today were developed for and during the series. Video Toaster by NewTek created for the show, became Lightwave...the very program I used for this pic and about everything else I do.

Yeah, considering most of the show was shot is an old warehouse. (And in the circuits of a computer bank)

Sidenote: the last episode was shot at the end of Season 4 and held in the can until the end of the series. (but u probably already knew that) :)

Yeah, I would take issue with Babylon 6, since the name was retired after 5.
BUT that does not mean you could not adopt another name in for the station with the same mission.

Name or not it is a nicely rendered image.
And I still with the series was still running myself.
Sad the Ezecutives wanted to medal with the creative process or cut the budget... It was obvious those Execs did ot get Mike's vision.

I know the series very well. "The last of the Babylon stations..." Well I didn't build it (the Model), I didn't design it, and it wasn't my idea. So forgive me if I don't adopt another name.

Thank you. It was very memory heavy... the station alone had 400 lights.

And considering that Andreas Katsulas and Richard Biggs are both dead, it wouldn't be the same...especially without G'kar. Also Jeff Conaway is holding onto life by a thread at this very moment.

Very true.
Still, it would be nice to dream what COULD have been.

I know they released a straight to DVD that I thought did great, but I guess not enough to generate interest in the powers that be.

I enjoyed it immensely. But it was just a small taste of what could and couldn't have been. The two actors were already "exploring beyond the rim" by then. It still did continue the mythos though. Outstanding writing!

No need to thank me now...finish the series. Oh and fair warning...JMS wanted the original run of the show pre set at a 5 year arc. However because of low syndication ratings the execs wanted to pull the plug at the end of four. The show was cancelled for about a day when TNT picked it up and finished the 5th year. So season 5 has some nice moments, but mostly it is denouement. Also there are a few movies to check out, and then the spin off series(that didn't last one whole season) Excalibur.

You know as egotistical as this might sound, I'm impressed to converse with someone who uses a word in their vocabulary that I don't recognize. That doesn't happen very often and I'm quite delighted when it does!

I shall keep my eyes peeled for the denouement but in the meantime I am enjoying myself immensely though I'll only be able to watch up to the very start of the second season it seems.

Oh well, I have eight episodes of Gundam 00 lined up and waiting in the wings. That should keep me amused once Babylon has run its course.
